Internal Soviet Problems
Communism: not functioning according to Marx
- supposed to be a classless society with complete equality, sharing the production of farms and factories, technologically advanced as any capitalist country
- reality: Communist party members were upper class, got the best available goods
- reality: government did all the economic planning very badly- result was shortages, poorly made goods
- reality: inventions slow- required free thinking, which was generally not allowed
- reality: military spending took up most of the productivity of the Soviet Union, so people had fewer manufactured goods
- reality: Soviet Union was declining on the inside, and more of their people became aware of it (very slowly)
